I won’t waste a lot of time small talkin’ this week because we’ve all got plenty to do, and with all the goodies below—plenty to read and explore.
Smile-inducing:
Makin’ deals happen! You can buy Ralphie’s actual house from the iconic A Christmas Story movie.
Retired NYC carriage horses are getting some love. A sanctuary is set to open in the Westchester area.
This Colorado-based organization is stepping up for families in a really big way. Thanks to Sarah K. for submitting, and kudos to all the brands helping people in need. You’re heroes.
Look at this December schedule I found. Please bookmark it so we can attend all the same events. See you there, at the corner of Caffeine and Not Pretending.
Eye-opening:
Christina Ricci sold all her Chanel bags. To to pay for her divorce, of course.
Dog poop/pee is a scientific marvel. Old piece but so much wow.
Some skyscrapers have massive swinging balls on ‘em. Seriously, they’re the weight of dozens of elephants. New York City is home to several of these giant swinging and especially heavy balls. Physics is BONKERS.
Rainbows? Pssh. I’m onto moonbows. Apparently, when moonlight refracts on tiny drops of water in the air (like rain or vapor) it forms a "moonbow.”
What I’m loving right now:
This Davines conditioner is worth a thousands doses of my love. Like so much. If you have very thick, wavy, processed and/or aggressively curly hair—sheesh. It’s a miracle. Sorry, no sale prices or coupons that I could find. I pay full price and would happily pay double.
These Primary puffer coats are $29! Choose from a bazillion colors and sizes for kids. I bought several, and this is completely not sponsored. They’re great.
If you haven’t already caught ‘em, I put together a list of the best Amazon gifts under $20 and extra good Amazon gifts under $50 because if you’re like me, you’re probably waiting till the 11th hour.
It’s not too late to get a super cute Hanukkah box delivered to your door so the chilrun’ in your life can get extra festive.
Sales I’m shopping right now:
Columbia fleeces + coats are all on mega sale. Half-zips starting at $18, jackets starting at about $25. Got a few things for extended family members. My FIL is going to love his new fleecier-than-ever lifestyle.
Tarte Shape Tape is on sale in every shade. Gah! Rare discount. I bought a new one + a backup.
.
Le Creuset is marked down by up to 60% off usual prices. Um, this deep Dutch oven is a steal and comes in a gazillion colors and I just bought/sent one to a relative getting married soon.
This Hamilton Beach hand blender is under $23. Have one and make all sorts of creamy soups with it. Not that you asked, but I’ve been roasting loads of squash, garlic and herbs and then adding a bit of coconut cream + hand blending for the BEST savory, vegan soup. Like, THE BEST.
Jobs:
TikTok is hiring an agency partnerships manager. Is that you? New York-based.
TikTok is also hiring a beauty category manager. Getchur overnight heatless curls ready! This could be big!

I want to say THANK YOU! This is only the third Extra Good newsletter, but holy macaroni it’s growing by the minute and I reached the first major goal of hitting 1,000 readers per day on the ExtraGood.life website. Blown past it, bubbeleh—and it’s because of you. So give yourself a hug from me, will ya?
And one last gem because it made me snort laugh:
I'm staying put in San Francisco for the entire month of December and going full "cozy mode". So happy not to be traveling. I'm over it!
The December cal caught me fully off guard and made me laugh - tysm for that. I will not be touching my laptop between 12/23/22 and 1/3/23 - spending 1/2 of break in my hometown in Minnesota and the other 1/2 in my warm and sunny dwelling place, San Diego.
